Infographic Proposal

Designing three logos for the last project was great, and I’m moving on to a new project. For my Advanced Visual Media class, I will be creating an infographic.  I thought about different topics and the kind of infographic I wanted to create. I thought of creating an infographic on staying hydrated tips, a how-to infographic on men’s style, or a research infographic on local restaurants.

I decided to go with the research on local restaurants, but Im narrowing it down to Mexican food, because it’s the best. There’s one place in particular I really like, so I will be focusing on them. I’d given up on Mexican food in Rexburg until I tried this place, so I’m thanking them through this project.I think it will be interesting to find out things like their average cost, busiest times, best deals, and things like that. The research will inform people why this place is great. If they haven’t tried it, it gives them a reason to do so.

Pinterest was such a great help as I looked at different kinds of infographics for design inspiration, and you can take a look at my infographics board right here: Daniel’s Infographic Inspiration Board

.

My hook will say something like, ” The best Rex-Mex in town,” “Eating Out Local: Rexican Food,” “Mexburg: Rexburg Mexican Food.”

Here is the timeline I have created and plan to follow for this project:

  • January 26: Pick topic and  project title.. Contact restaurant owners and schedule interview.
  • January 28: Research additional layouts and designs. Choose colors and fonts.
  • January 30: Survey locals on Rexburg Mexican food restaurants and options.
  • February 2: Gather all data, and begin organizing data into layout. Ask for other designers’ feedback.
  • February 7: Design icons, other vector art, and gather necessary photography.
  • February 8: Bring research content, and vectors & photography together for full draft.
  • February 10: Ask for social media feedback, and refine overall design. Make necessary adjustments.
  • February 13: Meet with instructor for critique and feedback. Make necessary adjustments.
  • February 19: Submit finalized infographic.

If you live in Rexburg, take a second to answer this preliminary research question:
